"We are working hard to wholesale supplies out to our schools, but the ribbon and blank cards can be purchased from anywhere. The cards with the suicide hotline are best to get from us.
The challenge when schools go outside of us to purchase supplies is we have seen inexpensive cards with rough edges that can damage the print head.
To replace a print head costs about $400 and if the schools aren't getting cards from us then we can't be responsible for fixing that.
We have also had several schools in Portland purchase off-brand ribbons and the colors were terrible. The printers are owned by Dorian and are on loan to most of the secondary schools.
Your schools are charging students $5 when they lose their cards so those funds cover the cost of supplying cards to new students and any other badges they may be printing.
The costs are as follows (as of 10/06/2023):
- Zebra ZXP 3 Ribbon that will print 280 cards $70
- Blank PVC Cards $30 per 100 cards or $100 for 500 cards
- Backprinted cards with the suicide hotline are $45 per 100 cards
NOTE: Shipping runs from $7.50 to $30 depending on how much is being ordered. If we are near the school then we just drop the supplies off for free, bit it all depends on timing. "
